BYRON BAY | NSW, AUSTRALIA

Australia’s most easterly point is known globally for it's sandy beaches, celebrity-hippie-surf culture and organic lifestyle.

Byron Bay | NSW, Australia

Cradled in a north-facing, wine glass-shaped bay is Australia’s most easterly point, where the sun first hits the continent when it rises each morning.
The first thing you see as you drive into Byron Bay is the iconic CHEER UP, SLOW DOWN, CHILL OUT sign, defining the laidback lifestyle for which Byron Bay is known across the globe.
During winters, whale migration season is on and the days are crisp and balmy, the surf is offshore and clear blue winter skies melt into epic sunsets of vivid pinks and orange.
Summers can last up to half the year, with strong northerly winds and town is a hive of activity with backpackers, international celebrities, surfers and locals.
Although Byron Bay is home to bustling markets, hip cafés, designer boutiques and laneways with wine bars and exotic eateries, away from crowded hotspots are pockets of peace - seductively soft sands of local beaches surrounded by native bush and hushed, and the sacred spaces in yoga studios, day spas and wholistic wellness centres.
The crowning jewel of Byron Bay though is her lighthouse, a beacon on the most easterly point that is best accessed by foot through rainforest or climbing the steep steps from Wategoes Beach, to be rewarded with a breathtaking view well worth the effort.
